High School Students to Compete in Inaugural Moot Court Competition

Saipan, CNMI – The NMI Supreme Court cordially invites the public to attend the inaugural High School Moot Court Competition on December 6th and 7th. Eighteen students from across the NMI will present arguments on behalf of their client in a mock case before a court of appeals. The champions, finalists, and semi-finalists will receive awards recognizing their achievement. The winning team will represent the Commonwealth at the National Association of Moot Court tournament at the University of California Santa Barbara in March 2024. Students with the best briefs and oral arguments will also be recognized. The following students and schools will be competing:

  • Kaden Manglona & Genaro Mejia, Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Rota Jr. Sr. High School

  • Yejin Son & Jenny Zhang, Marianas High School

  • Princes Habal & Julia Taitano, Marianas High School

  • Savannah Flores & Zhendrix Jandoc, Marianas High School

  • Michael Zhou & Irene Park, Saipan International School

  • Libby Tom & Mimi Culp, Saipan International School

  • Charlie Li & Jackie Zhen, Saipan International School

  • William Lee & Scarlett Kim, Saipan International School

  • Hestina Park & Ian Song, Saipan International School

The competition will take place at Guma’ Hustisia and is open to the public, beginning at 10:00 am.
